About Tartan Day Minnesota Tartan Day Minnesota is a gathering sponsored by a number of Scottish-American organizations in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Its goal is to promote awareness of Scottish heritage in Minnesota, and the vital role that Scottish-Americans have played in our state. Since 1999, citizens of Minnesota have gathered every year on April 6th (the anniversary of the Scottish Declaration of Independence in 1320) at the State Capitol in St. Paul to publicly recognize the contributions of "Scottish-Minnesotans." We encourage all Minnesotans, whether Scots or not, to join us for this exciting event. And if you can't attend in person, be sure to wear your tartan (preferably kilt, of course) and Tartan Day Button! Mrs.
