9th Annual New York Tartan Day Parade
Pipers, drummers, pipe bands, organizations, and proud
Westies & Scotties are encouraged to participate in
Tartan Week's main event - New York's National Tartan Day
Parade -- the largest Scottish celebration in Manhattan
and one of the largest Scottish parades in the world. UNIQUE
among parades, the NY Tartan Day Parade features full pipe
bands AND individual pipers and drummers from around the
world -- individuals may register AND participate in groups
of massed pipers. Last year’s parade participants
hailed from Scotland, Australia, Canada, England, France,
Switzerland, Pakistan and the U.S, with the parade being
enjoyed by thousands of spectators in Rockefeller Center.
Making their first Tartan Day Parade appearance, Glasgow's
Albannach will be warming up the 6th Avenue crowds this
year with their powerful, passionate and primal sound.
Unlike any "pipe and drum" band you've experienced before,
the group features an award winning piper and five drummers.
Albannach's music will stir your Scottish blood and leave
you begging for more.
